2016 British GP Post-Race Stats

The 50th running of the British GP at Silverstone started under the safety car, and by the time the safety car eventually pulled into the pits half the field switched to intermediate tyres.

The virtual safety car came out shortly after the full safety car went in as Pascal Wehrlein spun off, and the rest of the field pitted for intermediates. Hamilton won the race from pole after leading for all but one lap, Rosberg finished second but was later demoted to third for radio assistance when his gearbox had problems. Verstappen finished second (after the penalty for Rosberg) for the second race in a row, his third podium of the season.

Nico Rosberg set the fastest lap of the race, his fifth of the season. Felipe Nasr gained the most places in the race, starting in 21st and finishing 15th, and with five retirements in the race and Magnussen only making a classified finish that isn’t particularly impressive. Of the drivers in the points the most places gained was Daniil Kvyat, moving from 15th to tenth. The top five drivers in qualifying all finished where they started (before penalties).

Only a few changes again, Vettel drops down two positions after two consecutive poor races, pushing Raikkonen up to third and Ricciardo to fourth. Hulkenberg jumps up two positions and Kvyat down two, meaning that Hulkenberg is still the only driver to have changed championship position after every single race this season.
