As mentioned a few times on Twitter I am having internet problems which is why this wasn’t done yesterday. Anyway, the 60th F1 Monaco GP is over and Mercedes have finally converted a pole position into a win. Nico Rosberg achieved his third consecutive pole position, the last person to do so in a Mercedes was Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954 on the way to his second Drivers’ Championship.

Pre-race Statistics of the Monaco GP
The Monaco GP is one of the oldest races in the world that is still going today. The first race was held back in 1929 and after 100 laps it was won by British-French driver William Grover-Williams in his Bugatti. William Grover-Williams has quite an interesting but unfortunate story, there’s no time for it now but I’d recommend doing a search.

You might remember that last year BBC did a lot of articles about F1’s greatest drivers, personally I disagreed with the list so I’m doing my own. As I am the F1StatMan the top 10 drivers will be based only by their stats. To save myself some time, and stop my indecisiveness, I’ve used a formula to rank them all for me. The formula isn’t perfect and I know that a lot of people will disagree with some placements but it’s based on stats and stats alone. It slightly favours the modern drivers with more races though I have done what I can do even it out a little.

Fans seem to be split over the Spanish GP earlier, seen some say it was dull and some say it was fantastic. Pit stops were another hot topic today with a massive 77 tyre changes, possibly the most of any dry race. Mercedes qualified 1-2 for the first time since 1955 but in the race faded away and finished sixth and 12th, not what they would have wanted.

Sorry it’s a day later than usual but I just didn’t have the time yesterday. The 2013 Bahrain GP was full of action and surprises. Nico Rosberg qualified on pole, his second and Mercedes 11th but then faded away in the race and finished ninth. Sebastian Vettel won the race making him the first double winner of the season. Vettel is also the only driver with two poles or two fastest laps this season.

The Bahrain GP, the one week of the year that the media seem to mention or care about the protests in the country. Anyway, the Bahrain GP takes place at the incredibly well named Bahrain International Circuit. So far eight races have been held at the circuit with four being won from pole and just won from second, Felipe Massa at the 2008 Bahrain GP.

The 2013 Chinese GP was Fernando Alonso’s 200th race start and it went a lot better than his 200th race a few weeks ago in Malaysia. Alonso won the race from 3rd on the grid, his 31st race win and 10th for Ferrari.

MADE IN CHINA. The Shanghai International Circuit is one of five circuits on the calendar with “International Circuit” in the name. A slightly pointless stat but something that irritates me about modern circuits.

Pay drivers! Everyone loves to moan about them and then there’s always someone that mentions Schumacher paid for his seat at Jordan.
