Post-race Statistics of the Australian GP

The F1 season is back and off to a pretty good start, three of the last six races in Australia have now been won from pole position, and four from the front row. Räikkönen however won from 7th on the grid, the last time anyone won from further back in Australia was Coulthard in 2003, Kimi’s teammate at the time.

Pre-race Statistics of the Australian GP

It’s been a while since I’ve done the pre-race stats, hope I haven’t forgotten how! The Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit is a 5.303km circuit with 16 corners. The race will be a distance of 307.574km long after 58 laps. In the last five Australian GPs, three have been won from pole position, and three wins from Jenson Button.

Testing Stats

Pre-season testing is finally over, I’m completely ignoring all actual times as they’re pretty much irrelevant. Laps and total distance is what I’ve been looking at, gives some idea of car reliability at least. The cars covered a total of 49947.273km during the 12 days of winter testing, that’s larger than the circumference of the Earth and almost 40% of the race distance of all cars in 2012.

The Women of F1

Following the success of Danica Patrick last week at the Daytona 500 I thought I'd write about all the women drivers of F1, past, present and possibly future. There have only been five women enter an F1 race, with just two actually starting a race and only one finishing in a points scoring position.

The 2012 Qualifying Championship

First of all, sorry for the site downtime, was something out of my control but it doesn't matter now as WE'RE BACK! And with a new post! I had this thought a while ago and completely forgot about it until just now, what would the 2012 F1 season have been like if every single driver had finished every race exactly where they started? The answer, boring! But I went and found out anyway, with some quite interesting results.

Timo Head to Heads

I said last time that Red Bull would be the last teammate head to head, I slightly lied. THIS will be the last one, maybe... Anyway, Timo Glock, he's left Marussia but just how well has he been doing in F1? In his six seasons of F1 he's only finished ahead of his teammate in the Drivers' Championship just once.

Teammate Head to Heads – Red Bull

At last, the end of the teammate head to heads, which is of course Red Bull, triple champion Vettel and Aussie Mark Webber. Much like at Ferrari the two drivers haven't been particularly close, Webber was over 100 points down on Vettel in 2012.

The F1 Stat Infographic

Happy New Year! Decided I've have a go at something a bit different, so I made an F1 stat infographic. Always loved them but doing one yourself is a lot harder, hope you all enjoy it.

Ask The Statman – Your Questions Answered

You asked the questions and I answered them! Sixteen questions from thirteen people, some of which were very easy to answer and some incredibly hard. The questions are a bit of a mix of everything F1, from tarmac area and driver birthdays to the number of wins by turbo engines and the circuit with the most retirements.
