Pre-season testing is over for another year, which means that the races will soon start. After twelve days of testing the teams completed 7100 laps combined, compared to the 10902 laps completed last season. 25 drivers, 12 teams and over 35,000km of testing.
Mercedes completed the most laps with 975, a total of 4972.644km, over three times as many laps as Red Bull. Caterham completed the most laps of the Renault powered cars, 626 laps and 3313.128km, almost twice the distance of Red Bull. Lotus missed the first test and as a result of that completed the least laps and distance, achieving just 238 laps.
Unsurprisingly all of the teams managed fewer laps than in 2013, last year five teams managed over 1000 laps, this time none of them did.

Of the drivers, Nico Rosberg did the most laps, a total of 554 laps over six days of testing, more than four of the teams managed with all drivers. At the other end of the scale are three reserve drivers, Daniel Juncadella, Robin Frijns & Felipe Nasr, who completed 81, 78 and 87 laps respectively.
Romain Grosjean completed the least of any 2014 race drivers with just 91 laps, his new teammate Maldonado wasn’t much more successful with 147 laps. Kevin Magnussen did the most of the rookie drivers, the third most with an impressive 486 laps. The young Dane topped the timesheets on two days of testing, not that it really matters in testing anyway.
