Post-Race Statistics of the 2014 German GP

The Germans are coming. The 2014 German GP was led from start to finish by a German driver in a German car, wearing a German helmet.

Lots of German dominance at the German GP, and the 2014 season in general. Nico Rosberg started the race on pole, led every lap and then took the win, the only thing he didn’t do is the fastest lap, which went to teammate Lewis Hamilton. Young Finn Valtteri Bottas took second for the second consecutive time and Hamilton took third after starting in 20th place after a brake failure in qualifying and a five place gearbox penalty.

For the first time this season Lewis Hamilton has failed to reach Q3, last happening at the 2013 Italian GP. Nico Rosberg’s win was his 7th and his 20th podium, Valtteri Bottas’ podium is his third and the 300th for Williams, 21% of which have been from drivers sporting a moustache.

2014PositionsGermany

For the first time this season there have been absolutely NO changes in the Drivers’ Championship positions. In the Constructors’ Championship there has been just one change, a third consecutive podium for Williams have bumped them up to third, ahead of Ferrari but still 67 points off of Red Bull.

2014PointsGermany

Points graph is a little more interesting, but not by much, the gap at the top has been increased to 14 points, with an 84 point gap to third placed Ricciardo. Even if you combine the points of Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo they are still short of Rosberg’s points total.
