2014 United States GP Post-race Stats

‘MURICA! Decent race that, find myself loving the United States GP more every year, and there’s always a lot of good ideas for silly stats.

Hamilton won ANOTHER race, five in a row, and ten for the season, it’s unlikely that he will lose the title now unless he retires in Abu Dhabi and Rosberg wins the race. Hamilton took his tenth win, Rosberg took his tenth second place and Ricciardo took his fifth third place. Sebastian Vettel took the fastest lap of the race, helped by a late pit stop.

The downside to this year’s US GP however was the lack of cars, as Caterham and Marussia are both in administration currently they weren’t racing and F1 had an 18 car grid for the first time since the 2005 Monaco GP. While it didn’t affect the racing the smaller teams are an important part of F1, hopefully something will change and they’ll be back, a little more TV time wouldn’t hurt either.

Vettel started the race from the pit lane and recovered to seventh, helped a lot by the early safety car but even without it he would have had a good chance of points.

2014PositionsUSA

Only a couple of changes this time, Massa moved up to eighth, his highest position of the season, which dropped Hulkenberg down to ninth, his lowest position of the season. Pastor Maldonado has FINALLY scored some points, despite having two penalties during the race, gaining him three positions in the championship and dropping Bianchi, Sutil and Ericsson all down.

2014PointsUSA

Daniel Ricciardo is now 102 points away from the lead and can no longer win the championship, which guarantees a Mercedes double title win. Rosberg is 24 points down on Hamilton with 75 still available.
