2015 Abu Dhabi GP Post-Race Stats

The Abu Dhabi GP is over, the season is over, and well, it was all rather disappointing.

Nico Rosberg started on pole and won the race, Lewis Hamilton started second and finished second, Kimi Raikkonen started third and finished third, only changing positions when pitting. Sebastian Vettel dropped out in Q1 but still managed to recover to fourth in the race. Nico Rosberg’s win from pole is only the second at the Abu Dhabi GP, four of the races have been won from second on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton took the fastest lap of the race, but most surprisingly Fernando Alonso’s McLaren Honda set the third fastest time, only 0.279 seconds off of Hamilton and half a second quicker than race winner Rosberg. Pastor Maldonado was the only retirement in the race, unfortunately he was taken out by Fernando Alonso at turn 1 and unable to finish the race. Vettel gained the most positions in the race, finishing 11 places higher than his grid position. Grosjean gained the second most in the race, moving up nine positions and finishing in the points for his final race with the Lotus team.

Only one change after the Abu Dhabi GP, Kimi Raikkonen’s third place gives him fourth in the championship, dropping Bottas to fifth. This means that the top ten in the championship are all next to their teammate.
